Let Primus manage your Internet server(s) so your IT staff can focus on content and server applications. Your servers will be maintained 24 hours a day by our staff of highly trained system administrators.

Managed System Administration Can Include:

  • Monitoring of server and service availability
  • Operating system maintenance
  • Software upgrades (all licensed software must be provided by customer) 
  • Installation of patches, hot fixes, and service packs for OS and software
  • Act as liaison with customer third-party vendors to resolve computer hardware issues (third party charges are the responsibility of the customer)
  • Mail, Web and FTP Server Administration
  • Verification that tape backups are occurring properly (by reviewing log files generated by your backup software)
  • Log file rotation as required
  • Emergency Repair Disk Management
  • Hardware disaster recovery management (repair or replacement at customer’s expense)
  • Hardware installation with instructions provided by customer
  • Other services as agreed on by Primus and the customer

Requirements

  • Primus’ system administrators will require "Administrator" or "root" access to your server(s)
  • For UNIX servers, Primus requires the server(s) be running "ssh" for remote access
  • For Windows servers, Primus requests the server(s) be running Microsoft Terminal Services for remote access
  • For Windows servers, Primus strongly recommends the server(s) be running anti-virus software capable of real-time file-system protection
  • Customer must provide Primus with at least three "on-hours maintenance window" periods of at least one hour in length during the period Monday-Friday (7am to 6pm) when Primus’ system administrators can perform system maintenance which should not result in server downtime
  • Customer must provide Primus with at least three "off-hours maintenance window" periods of at least one hour in length during the period Tuesday-Thursday (2am to 7am) during which the server could be taken offline for upgrades, patches, etc.
